We're Updating Our Look

We’re excited to share that Colorado Trout Unlimited is launching a refreshed brand, including new logos and a clearer way to tell our story. While our commitment to rivers and communities remains the same, this new look better reflects who we are today — and where we’re headed. You’ll start to see the updated branding online and at Troutfest Colorado on May 31, with more changes rolling out throughout the summer.

Take Action: Say “No” to Sell-Off of Public Lands

Public lands are essential to life in the West, providing habitat for native trout, space for hunting and recreation, and fueling a $1.2 trillion outdoor economy. Despite their importance, a recent amendment passed in the House Natural Resources Committee proposes selling off large areas of public land in Nevada and Utah. Colorado Representatives Hurd and Neguse opposed the measure, while Representative Boebert and Crank supported it. Contact your U.S. Representative today and urge them to oppose the sell-off of public lands under the budget reconciliation bill.

CTU STREAM Girls Camp with Girl Scouts of Colorado

CTU partnered with the Girl Scouts of Colorado for a hands-on STREAM Girls camp this spring, giving scouts the chance to explore a mountain stream, tie flies, and even catch their first trout. It was a weekend full of learning, confidence-building, and connection to the outdoors. Read more about the experience and what’s ahead for STREAM programming in 2025.

Trout Unlimited, Roaring Fork Conservancy Lead Trout Release

This school year, third graders at Two Rivers Community School in Glenwood Springs raised rainbow trout from eggs to fingerlings in their classroom as part of Trout Unlimited’s Trout in the Classroom program. With support from the Roaring Fork Conservancy, the students released 102 young trout into the Roaring Fork River in Basalt. The release marked the culmination of months of hands-on learning about coldwater conservation.

Be a pain in the ANS

Anglers play a key role in preventing the spread of aquatic nuisance species (ANS) like invasive mussels. CPW recently added new cleaning stations statewide to help boaters and anglers clean, drain, and dry their gear. In 2024 alone, more than 32,000 boats were decontaminated and 110 mussel-fouled boats were intercepted—many coming from out of state. Waders, boots, and even nets can carry invasive species, so CPW urges everyone who fishes to stay vigilant. Learn how to protect your waters and where to find a cleaning station near you.

Featured Partner: Colorado Lottery

At its core, the Colorado Lottery is a conservation champion—dedicating 100% of proceeds to protecting Colorado’s great outdoors. Since 1983, more than $4.4 billion has funded parks, trails, open spaces, and wildlife across the state. Every time you play, Colorado wins. As the presenting sponsor of Troutfest Colorado, the Lottery continues its mission to keep Colorado wild and beautiful. Discover how Lottery proceeds support your community through conservation-focused investments statewide.
