Help us get the Blue back to GOLD

The Blue River between Dillon and Green Mountain Reservoirs is a popular high-elevation tailwater with close access to Colorado's Front Range and is a significant contributor to the $36,000,000+ local fishing economy. Unfortunately, this important reach of river has declined over the last several decades and was delisted as a Gold Medal status water by Colorado Parks and Wildlife in 2016.

Fortunately, there is hope for the Blue. Trout Unlimited and the Blue River Watershed Group have been working closely with local stakeholders, fly shops, municipalities, and resource managers to better understand what is causing the decline and to develop a science-based process to restore the Blue. We’re hoping to raise $10,000 over the next month and we’re already ¼ of the way to our goal!  Can you help us get the Blue Back To Gold with a donation today?

Macro of the Month: Dragonfly

Did you know that the top speed for a dragonfly is between 22-34 mph (36 and 54 km/h)? It varies from species to species, but these insects are fast! Learn more about this macroinvertebrate and check out the infographic that River Watch put together.

It's still hot, so please check your water temperatures and protect fish

Colorado is seeing consistent high temperatures and dry conditions across the state, mainly on the western slope. Plan your outings accordingly and check out our graphic on how different water temps affect trout and don't forget to add a water thermometer to your gear pack.
