Connecting with the Community: Colorado Trout Unlimited Trout in the Classroom Program

CTU’s Trout in the Classroom program is more than a science project—it’s a powerful way to connect students, educators, and the wider community with local waterways. From hands-on trout release events at the Carson Nature Center to CSU Spur’s first-ever homeschool-focused trout release, these moments inspire curiosity and conservation. With each trout released, students gain a deeper understanding of rivers, ecosystems, and their role as stewards of Colorado’s aquatic life. Keep an eye out for upcoming events—there’s more to discover, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

New Opportunity for Mine Waste Removal

A bipartisan bill, SB-054, is advancing in Colorado to support cleanup of abandoned mine sites by streamlining permits for waste rock removal and processing. It ensures environmental protections while encouraging private sector involvement in reclamation. This approach complements Trout Unlimited’s ongoing efforts to improve watershed health across the state.

2025 CTU Spring Rendezvous

The annual CTU Spring Rendezvous membership and board meeting is April 26th in Salida, CO. The Membership and Board meeting will be at the Scout Hut (210 E Sackett Ave) in Salida.  All day Saturday, April 26 – 9 am – 4 pm, lunch provided.  There is no registration cost for this event.

Welcome our New Director of Philanthropy, Cheyenne Johnson

Cheyenne Johnson joins Colorado Trout Unlimited with nearly two decades of philanthropy experience and a deep-rooted passion for conservation and education. Her career has focused on supporting people, land and water conservation, and environmental and cultural preservation through leadership roles at organizations like Colorado Open Lands and Hill Country Conservancy. Cheyenne is excited to bring her energy, expertise, and love of nature to CTU—and she can’t wait to connect with you.

The Colorado Wildlife Council is a council of nine individuals representing various interests throughout Colorado, who work to promote the benefits of wildlife, wildlife management, and wildlife-related recreational opportunities in Colorado, specifically hunting and fishing.
